counselling interns:
learn about our reduced rate sessions
Counselling Interns are Master’s-level students in the final stage of their graduate training; putting theory into practice with clients. Each intern is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as Qualifying Members, which means they are formally recognized by the regulatory body that upholds professional standards in psychotherapy.
why choose a counselling intern?
At Lacasse Counselling, our clinical interns are thoughtfully prepared and continuously supported throughout their training. Before joining, they complete theoretical courses to ensure they have a strong understanding of the psychodynamic and relational framework that guides all of our therapists.

In the months before seeing clients, interns meet regularly with the Clinical Director and participate in 6 hours each week of supervision and group consultation in addition to their ongoing coursework. This structure helps them integrate theory into practice, reflect on their clinical work, and develop within a supportive team environment.

By the time they begin working with clients, our interns are well-equipped to provide meaningful, high-quality therapy while continuing to receive ongoing guidance to ensure their work is ethical and aligned with the standards of care at Lacasse Counselling.
our clinical interns are:
-
Our clinical interns are carefully selected through a screening process that ensures they are both prepared and committed to offering high-quality care.

-
Each intern begins their journey at Lacasse Counselling by working directly with our Clinical Director to study the essential aspects of therapy and the unique psychodynamic lens we use to understand the root causes of emotional and relational struggles.

-
They complete training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to anchor their work in a solid clinical foundation. They collaborate with senior clinicians on our team to explore the conceptual principles of Self-in-Relationship Psychotherapy (SIRP), which are central to our practice.

-
Every week, interns participate in six hours of supervision and group consultation. This ensures that each case benefits from multiple perspectives and is consistently held to the highest standards of care.

-
An internship is intensive and demands dedication, focus, and time. Interns on our team take their role seriously, knowing they are entrusted with meaningful clinical work at a pivotal stage in their professional development.
